The best feeling in the world

Yesterday I was thinking about what alot of people fail to do after a workout.

The single most important thing that can keep you motivated forever...FOREVER!

And most people don't do it.

This one thing will block out any procrastination, lazyness, negative thoughts, and your ability to control your heart rate and catch your breath almost effortlessly.

What you do AFTER your workout sets the stage for every subsequent workout.

I'm talking about a "Meditative Cool Down".

Immediately following your training, kneel or sit down and close your eyes.

Feel the vibration of your heart through your chest, at that moment you realize, just like breathing, how we don't pay enough attention to the heart and lungs.

When you bring all of your attention on your heart you realize the importance of your life, how your heart has been beating all of your life without a break, feeding all of your organs.

In that moment if anything was bothering you or stressing you out before starting your training, you find out it has quickly disappeared. Listen to your heartbeat, you feel alive and grateful to be able to be here and experience it.

This is just one element of the Meditative Cool Down, apply this one thing and during the hardest of times in your workouts you'll be looking forward to reaching the end of it so you can sit or kneel and just listen to best beat in the world, your heart.

For a more detailed list of other meditative cool down techniques and meditation principles be sure to check this link.

It's Louse Time! Get Rid of Mood Swings

If you're new to my list of focused, motivated, self- starters, Welcome.

(if you're not new jump right away to today's lesson below)

Every day I communicate to you the best ways to train and the kind of mindset it takes to get results either in your physical fitness or martial art training.

Friday is always what I call: "Louse Time". Modeled after Bruce Lee's strategy in Enter the Dragon.

You know that part where he's having tea with the government agent but he's disturbed by one of his students and Bruce Lee tells the agent: It's Louse Time! The agent replies with his British accent: "yes of course".

Since I'm 6 years old that scene has always stuck with me and I'll be using that same strategy with YOU every week.

Friday is where I share with you Life Lessons and Direction given to me by my dad (and Sifu) every Friday.

Today's lesson is: Walk with strength not your weaknesses

Here's a check list to do just that:

  • Find the tools necessary to have balance in your life.
  • There are certain things that work and some things that dont.
  • You never get bored when you feel good.
  • Not being aware will get you hurt.
  • When you don't listen to your own basic needs it will become unpleasant.
  • Increase your confidence and peace of mind.
  • Find an outlet for your stress and frustrations.

We're all searching for "the More". More health, more happiness, more love, more success, more discipline, more peace...

There's no better feeling than to be in a quiet place, aware of your breath, and turning all your attention inside of you. What better way to do this than through Meditation.

A few minutes of daily self-reflection will make a huge difference in your mood throughout the day.

If you wish to become a daily meditator but don't know where to start, the first step starts here.

Live by this Code

I'd like to share with you this quote I received from one of my mentors.

It is profound, and if you follow these guidelines they will put you on the right path.

-To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

-To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

-To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

-To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

-To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.

-To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

-To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

-To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

-To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

-To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. Promise yourself these things. ~ Christian Larson

Jot these down and place them on your night table or read them aloud when you awake in the morning.

See what kind of effect it has on your attitude, your sense of purpose and the way you tackle daily chores and challenges.

This is exactly the state of mind you want to be in before starting your daily meditation.

Still unsure as to how to meditate?

It's Louse Time!

As many new subscribers join our list every week I want to explain what happens on Fridays.

If you've been on the list for a while jump right to the next paragraph. Friday is "Louse Time".
Where I share with you Life Lessons and Direction given to me by my dad (and Sifu) every Friday. It's a chance for you to have a sneak peek at my weekly tutelage.

Today's lesson is very important.

With it you can be happier, more fulfilled, and focused. You can also make better decisions. You can avoid waste in time and energy. You can really get what you want.

What do YOU want?

Today's lesson is "Know Yourself"

When you look at yourself in the mirror or you happen to be in a quiet place alone, you cannot lie to yourself.

Spend some quiet time alone daily.

Especially during the summer months there's no excuse to not go outside in the morning and sit under a tree or sit on the porch steps and meditate.

Turn your attention inward and ask yourself some important questions. Questions like: "Am I really doing what I was born to do?

At the center core, who are you?

Are you a doer? Are you a quitter? Are you a complainer? Are you determined? Do you look for excuses or solutions? Do you take responsibility or blame others? Do you see and feel yourself succeeding?

All good questions to ponder about tomorrow morning when you go outside to meditate.

For other ideas and meditation techniques you can get our meditation course right here.

Simple Meditation techniques

Can meditation help in today's hectic world?

I believe in does.

Meditation techniques have been practiced for thousands of years, tracing it back to India and southeast Asia.

Although less popular here in North America, every year it's gaining more and more momentum.

The major factor explaining this rise in popularity is dealing with stress.

Stress doesn't affect you the same if you're meditating daily.

Many studies show meditators benefit from a decrease in Cortisol production (a stress hormone) thus making it easier to deal with stress when it occurs, lower blood pressure, less anxiety and nervousness, more confidence, and also helps with chronic pain and insomnia.

If not for the major health benefits, you can also meditate for getting what you want.

I've talked about this before: "You become what you focus on".

It's a great goal setting tool. Using specific meditation techniques and doing them how we teach, will help attract what it is you want.

You can also use meditation for reflection.

Taking some time to feel your breath and to be thankful for what you have in your life.

You can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes daily to do this.

Considering the amount of time people (maybe even you) spend in front of the TV, 30 minutes of "alone time" is by far a better investment of your time and energy.

If you want to take up meditation you won't have to shave your head, sit in a lotus position, wear a white robe and eat only white rice.

To learn more about meditation and how to register for our next event April 13th, send an e-mail here to reserve your spot.
