Need a Pick Me Up?
You can accomplish great things on your own. And definitely, motivation to train has to come from within. At the end of the day, you're the one who has to do the sets and reps, the sacrifice, the repetitive practice so your martial art skill becomes second nature. With dedication you WILL have strength, speed, health, flexibility, and general mastery over your mind and body. If all this is already possible on your own, imagine if you had a partner that shared the same goals as you? A partner that would never let you down. A partner that would call out: "ONE MORE!" when you were just about to give up. A partner that gives nor takes any excuses. Actually that partner should be your instructor. When you visit one of our Fang Shen Do Schools you'll notice how the instructor in charge's only priority is helping you reach all the goals you've set out to accomplish. Together we can make things happen. I want to be that partner you can count on but sometimes distance is an issue, you might live too far from one of our schools or live in a different country. That's why the FSD Inner Circle is made available to you. The IC is a way for me to train you from a distance. To give you training tips and training workouts as well as nutritional advice for optimal performance. Knowing you're part of this elite group will help you stay on the path of health and fitness and keep that fire alive when other competing thoughts and activities are pulling you away from it. You'll get to see what I'm doing in my own personal training and see what's been working for me on a monthly basis. Join me today so we can get you walking the path of Mastery. Talking vs Training
Which one are YOU doing? My father always tells me: "You have 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 mouth. Watch more, Listen more. Talk less". It's a golden nugget of advice I've always followed and I hope you use it as well. In martial arts as well as in life, in the end it boils down to what you DO. Who you model, who you take advice from and what you follow through on, on a daily basis that determines the results you're going to get. You should treat training as you would a job. We all know what happens if you miss work, call in sick too many times, or show up late. You're FIRED! Only this time it will be your body saying it with low energy levels, moodiness, disease, and fat. When you start thinking of your training this way it removes all forms of procrastination. First, set the time you'll start each day along with what you have to do according to your martial art and fitness goals, treat this workout time as a job that simply needs to get done everyday, no questions asked. Your body and mind will thank you for it. This is just one of the ways I use to stay consistent when it comes to my physical fitness and martial art practice. I'd love to be able to personally help you even more to reach your goals if you'll let me. I do this through my Monthly Inner Circle Membership. Let's get to work together, sign up here. Master Yourself, Sibok Martin P.S. This group is filled with people just like you that need to be reminded of the daily practice and dedication to training. Watch as every month I give you some of my personal workout circuits, unique equipment to add to your routine and what foods you need to eat to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Test it out for one month and see what I mean. Inner Circle Test DriveLabels: Fang Shen Do, Inner Circle, Modeling

The Pressure Cooker Technique
Yes I know, this time of year might feel like you're in a pressure cooker, with all the shopping and the madness that surrounds the holidays, but that's not what I mean. What I'm talking about is a technique that guarantees you'll follow through on your new year resolutions and goals. My father didn't call it that when he told me about it but it sure does feel like you're in a pressure cooker when you're using it. It's purposely putting yourself in a position where you can't fail, can't give up or can't change your mind or else, you lose all of your self-pride and respect. The idea is to put yourself in front of your peers, someone you respect or look up to (a role model, a close friend, someone influencial in your life) or someone who would love to see you fail (maybe secretly or has voiced it in the past) but it works better if it's someone you love and cherish whom you know also looks up to you (like your kids for example), someone you wouldn't want to let down. You voice your plans to that person or group of people. You make your goals public. When you do that you've just stepped into a Pressure Cooker. Now all these people are looking at you and expecting to see you do, what you said you were going to do. If you keep your goals to yourself and don't follow through on them nobody will ever know and your ego will stay intact. Adding the Pressure Cooker element is a very powerful technique. I've used it many times in the past to get myself to act on a project, start a new one, or complete one. It doesn't mean you're trying to impress or accomplish the goal you've set for somebody else. It just means you're using other people as leverage against yourself so you're held accountable. The fear of letting them down, passing for a big talker, or seeing the disappointment in their eyes if you fail to follow through is enough to keep you focused and determined to accomplish what you said you were going to at all costs. Another way to keep the pressure on yourself is to join a group of like minded individuals who share some of the same goals and aspirations as you do. A team that will never let you down. I'm talking about the F.I.C (Fang Shen Do Inner Circle). Ready to step in the pressure cooker and beat procrastination forever? Follow this link.Master Yourself, Sifu Martin Labels: Inner Circle

Will to Succeed - Part 2
On last Friday's Louse Time I mentioned how, during my interview with Bob Wall, we got to talk about the Will to Succeed and what were the 3 major things he could attribute his success to. The first one being his Fear of Failure. Most people can relate to this one, but I think an equal amount of people also share the opposite fear, the Fear of Success. Which I'll cover another time. The second factor to his success is: His ability to Seek out Mentors. It is of utmost importance to lead a Mentored Life. The mentor can be in the flesh, on the phone, through a book, or on a DVD. Leading a mentored life means to be excited about learning. "Learning is a Journey, not a Destination" To always realize there is room for improvement, adjustment, modification, or reprogramming. A coach pours into you years of experience and helps you avoid costly mistakes. That's why we put together the FIC (Fang Shen Do Inner Circle), to allow students to get coached by myself and other top instructors whom are either: living too far from one of our schools, or who lives in another country. The FIC also allows you to have the most up to date training information, advanced workouts, unique equipment availability, and nutrition tips funneled directly to you each and every month. You also get 3 mths worth of past issues free when you become a member of the FIC today. What you'll find in these past issues: - How to hold your leg over your head for as long as you want by learning this simple exercise
- Developing a strong neck to avoid injuries while grappling
- A Conditioning Sequence that doubles your strength, speed, endurance and skill which will leave you huffing and puffing in 60 seconds or less.
- Which foods pack on the best cancer fighting effects
- A fun drill to build tiger like finesse, flow and power
- The 2 herbs that contain 10 times the antioxidant levels, age defying nutrients found in blueberries
- and much more... register here

Follow Through No Matter What
Another great training today. As you know Wednesday is my TWB Day: "Train With Brothers Day". It should also be your goal to find some sort of support in your training. Some say and I would have to agree, that this is the # 1 reason why so many people stop following their training programs. There just wasn't any support when it was needed. It starts by missing one day, then 2, next thing you know you haven't trained in 6 months. I'm a strong believer in self-motivation, it really has to come from within you but in the beginning stages, having a friend or training partner will do wonders when it comes to developing the habit of training. As I'm sure you already know, when you're in the middle of your workout you're happy, training feels good and there's no other place you would want to be. You might find yourself having a moment of weakness BEFORE you start your training. Learn to recognize that voice and ignore it. Just get started, get moving and everything should get real quiet. If you've experienced this sudden negative self-talk before training, you're not alone. We're all basically lazy. Remember that your body will do anything you ask of it, run a marathon, walk on fire, punch through bricks, jump out of a plane, etc. The difference between someone who sticks with it compared to someone who doesn't just boils down to FOCUS. Focus on where you want to be, accept what needs to be done, follow through no matter what, and make no excuses. Master Yourself, Sifu Martin P.S. Through our martial art schools it becomes very easy for our students to find support when they most need it. If you aren't training yet you can get started here. If you live too far from one of our training centers you might want to consider monthly support via our Inner Circle membership. Labels: Consistency, Inner Circle, Schools

It's Louse Time! Find a Teacher
If you're new to my list of focused, motivated, self-starters, Welcome. (if you're not (new) jump right away to today's lesson below) Every day I communicate to you the best ways to train andthe kind of mindset it takes to get results either in your physical fitness or martial art training. Friday is always what I call: "Louse Time". Modeled after Bruce Lee's strategy in Enter the Dragon. You know that part where he's having tea with the government agent but he's disturbed by one of his students and Bruce Lee tells the agent: It's Louse Time! The agent replies with his British accent: "yes of course". Since I'm 6 years old that scene has always stuck with me and I'll be using that same strategy with YOU every week. Friday is where I share with you Life Lessons and Direction given to me by my dad (and Sifu) every Friday. Today's lesson is: When the student is ready the teacher will appear Ever since I was a little kid, say 6 or 7 years old, I always knew what I wanted to do. I was talented artistically and drawing and painting came very natural to me so I would make drawings of myself doing what I wanted to do. I have binders full of the same old kind of drawings, all relating to the same thing. Thinking back to that time I think of W . Clement Stone's Quote that goes something like: "Concentrate upon a given desire until that desire becomes a burning obsession. ..." It really did become a great obsession. You guessed it, it was becoming a kung-fu instructor just like my father. Like most people starting something new, I remember not being very good at it. As I write this, one moment flashes through my mind that I'll never forget. The main house I lived in most of my life is not far from where I live today. Lots of things happened in that house. Lots of things that would set me on the course I'm on today. Our basement was THE place for all sorts of things. Hockey, hide and seek, labyrinths, video games, weight lifting, kung-fu training, you name it. The reason why I'm so stubborn and determined today is due in large part because of my big brother, that some of you know as Sifu Stephane who runs the Orleans School. As with all brothers, there are some arguments, some pushing and shoving and some fighting. This one time we were sparring with my dad's old pair of boxing gloves. These were 8 ounce black and gold gloves that were hard as rock which we still have to this day. Anyway, he ended up landing one on my nose in the basement and I started crying, I was about 9 years old at the time. I remember crying and hitting our old punching bag we had hung up in the basement (we also still have that bag to this day, people who've been to our training camp got to hit it) and repeating to myself and screaming out loud, one day I'll be good (although it sounds better in french: "Moez aussi je vais aitre bon un jour, tabarnac!" All this to say we all start at the bottom and we we need someone to push us to do better. Students need mentors, coaches, Sifus, to help guide the way. Some people look at me and think I was always the way I am today. Wrong. I put in the hours. I made the mistakes. I went through the aches and pains of starting something new just like you are doing. I cannot imagine someone ever going at it alone without a teacher by your side. That's why the Inner C ircle was created to help you stay strong and motivated in times of doubt, it also works hand in hand with your class training to help bring out other qualities that are still un-tapped. Who do YOU surround yourself with?
Woke up at 5 am to board a plane today, flying over Toronto and heading for Tampa with my Dad for an important seminar. Coincidentally I came across an ex-student who's an inspector at the security check point who tells me he'll be back shortly with his niece and nephew. Once I board the plane I run into yet another student, she happens to be one of the flight attendants. All this back to back. Weird. Reminds me how far you can go with the right contacts. Who do YOU surround yourself with? Birds of the same feather flock together. Are you surrounded with high achievers? People you can model who are doing and getting the results that you want in your training. Things like endurance, flexibility, speed, power and choosing the right food to fuel your body. If you have any hope of developing outstanding health, strength and success find someone who's living those goals now. Become part of our inner Circle group where each month I coach you through advanced workouts & drills, nutrition, and personal development to get you where you want to be...FAST.

Cut your learning curve
My youngest daughter Eve just turned 1 year old yesterday. Parents more than anyone I think, are constantly reminded of how fast time is zooming by us when we see our kids growing up so fast. My late grand-mother would say: "We raise our kids so we can give them to the world" I want to arm my kids with the best knowledge, the best guidance, the best training, the best values, and that's why I continue my own development and research to make sure to cut their learning curve compared to mine. I have my own coaches, mentors and experts that I consult with to make sure I'm on the cutting edge of martial arts, fitness and personal development. I cannot stress enough the importance of having someone who can hold you accountable every month and offers a unique twist on training and martial arts. I'd like to arm you with the best knowledge. I'd like to share with you the latest workouts and training routines we are putting to the test every month. Programs like Destroyer, Ironman, Champion, and Happy Times are very effective ways of supplementing your class training. I feel bad for the people who don't have access to this program or worse yet don't even know that this program exists. It's called The FSD Inner Circle. Every month I communicate to you off the wall training routines that I experiment with, what works for me in the areas of nutrition, health, supplements as well as new and old (re-discovered) training equipment you can use in your training. Put me to the test, Master Yourself, Sifu Martin P.S Try it for one month you have nothing to lose. Labels: Inner Circle

Success is Revenge
Many people can attribute their success to proving someone wrong. At one point maybe someone told YOU you couldn't do something. You weren't smart enough. You weren't qualified enough. You wouldn't amount to anything. Maybe you were told to be REALISTIC and not dream so big. No matter what was said use IT as fuel to reach for your goals and accomplish what it is you really want. Show them they were wrong to think that about you. Then once you get to where you want to go, release them and thank them silently for giving you that fire you needed in the beginning stages and to give you the courage to move forward with your goal. One thing you'll find out though, you can never get rid of people who don't believe in you. That's fine, you know what to do. The secret to staying motivated is to surround yourself with focused, positive individuals. To be part of a circle so strong that no negative influence can enter. Become a part of the FSD Inner Circle, you've seen how negative influence can help fuel your goals and dreams but wait until you see what a positive one can do. Master Yourself, Sifu Martin P.S.
