All the Best in the New Year

The new year is coming.

Will you be ready?

You already know that written resolutions without taking action on them is a waste of time.

How do you "muster up" the will power to act on the goals you've set?

As a rule of thumb, start by the goals that are fairly easy to accomplish this way you'll build momentum and confidence. Or find a way to chunk down a goal.

Like losing weight.

Instead of focusing on losing 50 lbs right away in January, which might now seem impossible, overwhelming, and so far fetched, turn your focus to losing 1 lb a week.

This mini-success so to speak will get the ball rolling and help you believe you can do it. You'll surely end up losing more than 1 lb a week once you start getting results and most importantly getting inspired.

This same principle can be used in "flexibility goals" for example or "strength goals".

Chunking down is by far the best way to actually follow through on the goals you've set in 2010.

I'd like to thank you for being one of my subscribers and even more so if you were a customer of ours this year, I really appreciate it.

From my family to yours, may you have an adventurous, fulfilling, and prosperous new year.

Financial Crisis!

Everyone around us is screaming "Financial Crisis!"

I say we have a "Personal Energy Crisis!"

Do you POUNCE out of bed or ROLL out of it?

How would you rate your energy level during the day?

Half asleep, on Auto-Pilot, Average wattage or a Dynamo?

Your body is constantly giving you signals.

Are you avoiding the signals and getting a quick fix by drinking more sugar laced coffee and chugging energy drinks?

If you're driving down the highway and a sign says: "Construction Work Ahead-Slow Down".

Do you floor it or follow the instructions on the sign?

Why would it be different when it comes to your own body.

You don't need me to tell you what you should change as far as diet and activity goes. Chances are you already know what drains you of your energy.

So why keep on following the same pattern?

Who knows.

One road just seems easier I guess while the other one requires some sacrifice and effort.

Maybe the fact that Diabetes affects millions of kids and adults due to mal nutrition and lack of activity isn't enough, maybe when it hits a billion then maybe we'll see a change in people's lifestyles?

Or maybe when coronary heart disaese affects someone you know or worse, affects YOU, then we'll all get involved in charity walks, fundraisers and being conscious of the choices we make.

I hate being reactive. It goes against the principles we teach in our schools about personal protection.

"A good defense is a strong offense"

If you wait too long there's only so many punches you can dodge, deflect and absorb.

Same thing with your health. There's only so many treatments, operations, and drugs you can take before you come to the conclusion that putting your health first, reading labels on the food you buy, and staying active, should be a top priority.

Temptations are all around you, throughout your day, be one of the few that actually puts in practice 2 very basic principles that seems to have been lost in our society...

Self-Control and Self-Motivation to preserve optimal health in mind, body, and spirit.

A good kick in the pants

Sometimes all we need is a good kick in the pants. If you're reading this off of my blog on the Fang Shen Do website, like the saying goes: "A picture is worth a thousand words"

Nothing is ever easy.

EVER.

No matter who you are.

If you're very lucky you have someone close to you who doesn't hold back and shakes your tree so to speak when you need it or the ideal situation is that YOU are able to kick your own butt to get yourself to take action.

I suspect there might be a pre-conceived idea that it's easier for me to get myself to train, read, learn, improve, and stay motivated.

If you think that, you're wrong.

I just learned and apply one thing: "In order to defeat procrastination you need to get in the habit of taking immediate action"

Don't wait. Don't think. Don't question.

Whatever it is you're after: fitness, martial art skill, confidence, success, peace, flexibility, or respect, you need to attack your goals.

Attack?

Yeah, ATTACK.

If you think of it in that term you'll be less willing to give up on your goals.

If you LAND your strikes, i.e: take action, follow through, act in spite of fear, take a chance, or stay consistent you're going to win.

If you TAKE a hit, i.e: procrastinate, quit, complain, lose focus, or miss the big picture all together you're gonna lose.

How ironic is it that the greatest opponent you'll ever face is YOURSELF.

The only difference is some fights last 5 to 12 rounds, this one will last you a life time.

Equip yourself with the right knowledge, the right training, the right information so you're ready for your fight.

I suggest you start here.

Sifu Martin

Finding a way to stick with your goals

You can admit it.

Are you following through on the resolutions you set for yourself early this year?

Or did you lose track of them and let them slip through your fingers?

That's why you need to constantly review your goals and list of priorities. Because if you let it, life will kick in and consume you, throwing a monkey wrench into the mix.

When you eventually start thinking back of what you wanted to accomplish this year, often several months have flown right by you, and you haven't made any considerable gains in your health related goals.

Those are the most important ones, without health everything else is useless.

Think back how you felt early January when you were writing your goals (considering you even wrote some). You were motivated, determined and focused. Ready to tackle the new year with zest.

What happened?

We all lose focus some times. But it's time to get it back.

Go through your list, and pick 3 things you're gonna focus on.

Maybe you lost focus because you had too many things on that list.

Simplify it.

Ask yourself the magic question: In 30 years from now, how will I benefit from accomplishing these goals.

How will performing daily deep breathing techniques help me.

How will daily stretching help me?

And what about daily strength training as shown in our kits?

Then, ask the same question if you don't do them.

Remember, everything you DO should be geared towards INCREASING your life span not DIMINISHING it.

Get your focus back,

Master Yourself,

Sifu Martin

P.S. Keep your goals fresh in your mind by reading them when you wake up and when you retire at night. Keep them written on a board in your office or on a post-it. On the bathroom mirror, or in your wallet. Frame your main goals so everyone can see them. Adding that kind of pressure leads to consistency and maximum results.

Body says NO but it means YES

Something I've realized over the years is when I don't feel like training and actually work up the will to train, that training is the best one I ever had. Strange Huh?

Kinda like my body was saying NO but it really meant YES.

Whenever I get that: "I dont feel like training today" feeling, I realize I must of done something wrong the day before. I figure my body is giving me a warning sign.

Maybe I didn't eat right the day before, maybe I slept too much, or perhaps I didn't sleep enough, it might be stress or lack of sunlight.

Something.

So make sure to act on that message and go do something physical. Drop some cards down and put in a great workout.

The easiest way is to get your very own strength training kit.

They're loaded with various exercises and they take out any downtime thinking of what you'll actually "do" exercise wise.

Pick one up right here,

Aim Higher,

Sifu Martin

P.S. Remember what I talked about before: Strong are they who force their thoughts to control their actions. A negative thought must be turned in a positive one with great haste or surrender to the art of vegetation.

Learn from a 7 mth old

You might think: "This ain't gonna happen"

As you might know I'm a father of three. When I was holding my baby girl today she taught me a valuable lesson we all need to remember.

I had her sitting on my lap and she reached out to grab a toy. For the next 30 minutes she was totally focused on the toy.

Nothing else seemed to exist or matter.

She picked it up, turned it, threw it, drooled on it, hugged it. On and on she did this without losing focus.

If a 7 month old can do this, I suppose an adult can do this?

Are you able to stay focused on one thing for at least 30 minutes and do it well?

Do you try doing too many things all at once when it comes to your fitness training?

Things like: a gotta do my abs, gotta do my legs, gotta do cardio, etc...

Our strength training kits lets you put everything on auto-pilot and lets you focus on the most important thing:

DOING the thing.

Not thinking about it, organizing it, contemplating about it, or analizing it.

The goal is to get in the zone. And the way to do that is just: START.

Everything will flow from there.

Fitness Training should be like Playing: Effortless

Want to know how to make every aspect of fitness training effortless?

Reach for our strength training kits right here.

Can you keep a Promise?

How many resolutions did you break yet?

1,...2...,3?

It's never easy to change your ways. Like a tree, once the branches have "set" they can't be twisted in another direction right? Wrong.

Think of Bonsai trees. You can mold the branches however you please with clamps and wire mesh.

That's all you need to find, some clamps (desire) and wire mesh (action).

Strong is he who forces his thoughts to control his actions.
Weak is he who allows his thoughts to control his actions.

I'm sure you have a million thoughts go through your head 24/7, while awake and when sleeping. You need to decide which ones you'll act upon. Some are positive and some are negative. Some support you and some disempower you.

You already know this. Then why do we get side-tracked?

EGO.

Your Ego needs to win. It always needs to be right. Your Ego is satisfied, comfortable, and hates change. It knows exactly how to talk to you.

You know that voice.

The one that comes on when you try something new, when you experience fear, when everything is going right.

It often starts with:"What if ___________" or
"You don't_____________"(fill in the blank)?

Learn to recognize it and say: Shut Up!

Then do what you wanted to do with desire and action.

If your goal is to start a strength training program then it becomes just like brushing your teeth. A habit. No thinking. No questions. No whining.

I need to train everyday (Shut Up)

I will lose 15 pounds (Shut Up)

I must develop a strong, lean body (Shut Up)

There, that's more like it, you're in control, the past does not equal the future.

This year things will be different. You bet.

Why?

Cause you'll have me by your side watching over you daily this year.

As always, Aim Higher,

Sifu Martin

Use your Enemies

Some people are still having trouble sticking with the goals they've set.

So I'm going to show you some ways to help make it work for you since it's so critical to your success.

This information is very valuable considering the odds that are stacked up against you: The stats show that most will not follow through on their goals and resolutions this year.

Avoid being part of the statistics.

You've heard of the term "Use your Enemies"?

Here's a simple way to do that.

Start by "Thinking Back" or "Thinking Now" of people around you who are not supportive of your goals.

It could be a family member, co-worker, someone who bullied you in school, ex-boyfriend, or ex-wife.

Someone.

Make a mental picture of that person.

Whenever you find yourself deviating from your goals this year, that person should pop up in your head.

They say "Success is Revenge". Use that negative energy into a positive one to stay motivated.
If you catch yourself reaching for that bowl of ice cream or skipping out on one of your workouts, think of what that enemy would say: "There I told you so, I always knew you were a friggin' loser, You're no good for nothing, Look at that ass getting bigger".

You know, things like that.

If you're like me, you'll never allow that enemy to get the best of you.

If I'm doing 500 Squats I'll do 520, just to show that prick that I'm unbreakable. I'll add more weight, I'll add a minute, I'll do my "fasting" one day longer. This is a surefire way to stick with your goals.

We all want a sense of Pride and we won't let the enemy have his way with us.

For strategies like these and many others to stay on top of your game, Pick up the FSD Training Guide today and show that prick what you're made of.

As I'm writing this, mine have just appeared in my mind, gotta go punch the bag now and show those bastards who's the boss around here.

Master Yourself,

Sifu Martin

Beat Procrastination in 2008

How many things did you start in 2007 and did not finish?

I remember 22 years ago when my parents brought us for the first time to Disney's Epcot Center. There was one exhibit that really got me excited.

The Future

It showed how things would be in the year 2000.
Flying cars, super advanced cities, robots helping with chores and taking care of the kids while parents went off on a galactic trip somewhere.

That exhibit is no longer there today.

Or the Car Industry that's been promising those super cool cars. Every year they show them in magazines and reveal them at car shows but they're never made available to the general public.

What I'm trying to say is: "Don't do like they did".

Do what you say you're gonna do.

There are countless other examples of Politicians, Bosses, Employees, and Parents saying they'll do this or that, and never following through on it.

In a way, since this is happening all around us, it has made it acceptable to not Finish what you start.

Do you finish what you start?

When you're writing your goals (you are writing your goals right?), ask yourself:

"For who am I writing this goal?

To impress my family or a co-worker?

Or is it really something that I need to commit to this year.

What if you had a tool you could use to help you organize and map out exactly, step by step, the realization of every goal you have for 2008?

Well my friend, there is such a tool. And it comes free when you get your own copy of Fang Shen Do Training Guide.

It's our gift to you to help you get on your way to knocking off those goals one by one this year.

Aim higher,

Sifu Martin
